Homes in Denton County and what they ask of paint
The city of Denton has its own older core: 1910s to 1940s cottages and bungalows near the courthouse square and around the university neighborhoods, with lots of wood siding and original windows. Most of the southwest county, though, dates from the late 1990s onward. Trophy Club, Roanoke and Argyle feature brick and Austin stone homes with fiber-cement siding, cast stone accents and big garages. Northlake and the newest master-planned areas near I-35W add modern farmhouse styles with board-and-batten and black window frames. Paint work here leans toward precise color matching, crisp trim lines and durable cabinet finishes.
Working through an HOA approval without losing your spot
Nearly every subdivision in Trophy Club, Roanoke and Northlake has an architectural committee, and some review color requests only once or twice a month. We give you a one-page submission packet: brand, color name and code for body, trim, door and garage door, plus photos of test swatches on your actual walls.
Once the approval comes back, we confirm the exact sheen the HOA expects. Some communities specify satin on siding and semi-gloss on trim, and inspectors do notice. We keep a copy of the approval letter with the job, in case a neighbor or board member asks.
Kitchen cabinets in builder-grade stain, refinished in paint
Many 2000s homes here came with medium oak or maple cabinets in a builder stain. Painting them is one of the most requested interior jobs we do in the county. We remove doors and drawer fronts, degrease with a cabinet cleaner, scuff sand at 180 to 220 grit and prime with a bonding primer that grips the old finish.
Doors are sprayed in a waterborne urethane-modified enamel in a clean area, with boxes brushed and rolled on site. Each coat needs about 16 to 24 hours before recoating, and full hardness takes a few weeks, so we'll walk you through how gently to treat the doors that first month.
- Doors labeled and removed for spraying
- Bonding primer over factory lacquer or stain
- Two topcoats of waterborne enamel
- Hinges and pulls cleaned and reinstalled
What hail and north wind do to Denton County exteriors
Storms tracking across the northern metro bring hail that chips paint off fascia, dings metal garage doors and pits painted gutters. After a storm we look for bare spots on south and west trim where the impacts landed and seal them before rain gets under the film.
Garage doors with small dents still take paint well. We clean, scuff with a gray abrasive pad, prime any bare steel and finish in a direct-to-metal acrylic. If an insurance claim is open for storm damage, we can photograph the affected areas before we start so you have a record.
